WORKING WITH OTHER CHURCHES
St Columba's URC aims to further the work of God through working with other Christian groups, some of which are detailed below.
Other City Centre Churches
In particular, we work closely with New Road Baptist Church, St Michael at the North Gate, and Wesley Memorial Church. Various topics are worked on together and joint services are also held together.
Churches Together in Oxfordshire (CTO)
St Columba's URC is a member of Churches Together in Oxfordshire (CTO), which exists to further Ecumenical relationships within the county of Oxfordshire.
Oxford Winter Night Shelter (OWNS)
A number of churches in central Oxford provide shelter for rough sleepers in the winter. This initiative began in winter 2019. The shelters run from 1st January to 31st March. The shelters usually accommodate up to 20 people. We offer our church building as one of the night shelter locations and also general support from our volunteers.
Oxford Street Pastors
Street Pastors is present in Oxford and across the United Kingdom. It cares for, helps and listens to people on the streets of Oxford city centre on Saturdays nights between 10:30pm and 4:00am (except for the last weekend of the month, when it is active on a Friday night). St Columba's URC has supported this work financially and one members participate in its operation, taking part in regular night shifts with the team.
